Plumbers!

Why get a PhD when you can charge $78/hour for fixing a toilet drain?!

For many reasons:

1) To replace fixing a toilet by writing a paper and enjoying through it.
2) To get the chance of getting a life-time job with a more than average salary.
3) To avoid paying lots of tax over your 76$ income.
4) To have a constant flow of income not just when the toilets decide to break down.
5) To adjust your working time schedule with the rithm of you life not vis versa.
6) To raise some questions for the Bloggers to think :)

but I think these are the minor resasons. The main one is that if everybody is fixing the toilets then there is not enough job for toilet fixers. So some people should leave the ground to generate the demand and of course the more stupid ones leave first to get Phd when they can earn 78$ per hour.

It's about scarcity. I know way too many PhDs but only one plumber. If only we were all plumbers then the PhDs could have charged us way over $78 to guesstimate the third answer of an NP in less than 10 minutes, and then you would write the same thing in reverse while studying towards your second MCP* and you realize can't figure out what's the optimum weight of rocks you can carry in your knapsack. So it wouldn't be that different, seriously.

Aghaye Ghoddusi,

First, thanx for leaving a comment! I'm a big fan! ;) Second, are you suggesting that PhDs have a better chance of getting a life-time job, with a constant flow of money, and do not oay taxes? cause from what I hear, it's exactly the opposite! But I am definitely with you on the demand/supply theory...

Shahin,

Guess you're right, I should be thankful that at least I don't have to look inside people's toilet's AND not make any money!
