CD shopping

This whole week, I was looking for Alizadeh's new album (Ode to flowers) to buy. The only website that had it for sale was this CD Baby (i know!) website. Obviously , it was not very cheap and the shipping cost was ridiculous (I needed the fast shipping)... but well, I had no other choice so I bought it while cursing them non-stop. They sent me an email today that totally made up for their price and terrible use of colors in their website:

"...Your CD has been gently taken from our CD Baby shelves with sterilized contamination-free gloves and placed onto a satin pillow.

A team of 50 employees inspected your CD and polished it to make sure it was in the best possible condition before mailing.

Our packing specialist from Japan lit a candle and a hush fell over the crowd as he put your CD into the finest gold-lined box that money can buy.

We all had a wonderful celebration afterwards and the whole party marched down the street to the post office where the entire town of Portland waved "Bon Voyage!" to your package, on its way to you, in our private CD Baby jet on this day, Friday, May 25th.

I hope you had a wonderful time shopping at CD Baby. We sure did. Your picture is on our wall as "Customer of the Year." We're all exhausted but can't wait for you to come back to CDBABY.COM!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Sigh...

Yeah, they are so fun. They will later send you reminders and ask you if you got everything OK or not. And their prices are not that high normally. That's the price the seller sets. I got O-HUM and Kiosk from there.
There's also the other site, lulu.com where they sell indie books and printed stuff in general. Even if it's only one copy.

the first time i shopped from them i was so elated i replied with an email written in the same context, they replied and thank me dearly again... nice people. then i shopped more and more and they sent the same email again and again, and i wish they didn't, it doesn't feel special anymore.

yeah, the second time i received that email was a real bummer. especially since i knew there was no packing specialist from Japan and no gold-lined box. in fact i knew the CD would come in the cheapest bubble envelope money can buy.
but then even the first time wasn't THAT great. i mean i was sure they didn't have my picture on their wall because i had never sent them a photo.

ok guys,

am i the last person on earth to have found out about this website? ;) and well, don't take the message literally, i just thought it was cool that they thought of something other than: dear Miss, your CD has been shipped and I am an automated email to show we don't care at all! :)

well, i still think they don't care at all but sure, suit yourself!
