A conversation with my mom
after talking for like 5 minutes about things I need to have sent over to me...
me - So mom...guess what... my PhD admission finally got sorted out, I'll start this January!
mom - That's great..."bah bah"... ok, glad that you're alright, I'll send you the things you wanted. I'm calling from work so I have to go now... I'll call you later.
...isn't she like the coolest weirdest mom on earth?

I am sure she is very happy, but maybe, somewhere deep in her heart, she is a tiny bit sad that she has to be away from you for another 6 years... (who says it only takes 4 years to do a PhD?)

She is so happy to see your improvement and success, but what bothers her, is having you away from herself! cuz she knows that by going to get your PhD you're not gonna come back to see her anymore !! so I think she misses you aloooooooot!!
